Jordan Stolz Continues His Winning Streak and Olympians Brittany Bowe and Kimi Goetz Shine at Winter World Cup Qualifier

Jordan Stolz, who is coming off the first two World Cups with six Gold medals, won all four races he skated this weekend at the US Speedskating Long Track Winter World Cup Qualifier.

Brittany Bowe, a three-time Olympian, claimed a pair of victories in the 500m and 1000m. Bowe and Olympic teammate Kimi Goetz finished one-two in the Women’s 500m and 1000m, while Goetz and Bowe finished one-two in the 1500m, with Goetz taking a narrow win in the 1500m with a time of 1:54.14, just .05 seconds ahead of Bowe.


Greta Myers took home the win with a new personal best in the 3000m and Women’s Mass Start, while Giorgia Birkeland skated to first in the 5000m.


On the men’s side, Stolz won both 500m races, 1000m & 1500m, extending his 21-race win streak to 25 on the Olympic Oval. In the first 1000m, Stolz won with a time of 1:07.10, his fastest time this season and the fastest time skated by any skater this year. He also set another season best in the 1500m, crossing the line with a time of 1:43.39.


Close behind him were teammates Cooper Mcleod and Conor McDermott-Mostowy, who went two-three in both the first 500m and 1000m. On Saturday, Zach Stoppelmoor reached the second spot in the second 500m with Emery Lehman taking second in the 1500m race.


During the Mass Start races on Sunday, Ethan Cepuran and Lehman won first and second in a fast-paced race for the finish.


Skaters competed for spots on the Winter World Cup team, which kicks off in Calgary, Canada on January 24-26, 2025 before returning to Milwaukee, WI for World Cup #4.


The Winter World Cup Qualifier was held in conjunction with the U.S. Open Masters Championships.


Brian Bullard and Austin Carlson each claimed a pair of victories in the Master’s category.


Bullard posted a pair of wins in the 500m and Carlson had two wins in the 1000m as each finished with multiple podium finishes.


Bowe and Goetz were the leaders in the Women’s masters competition with three podium finishes apiece.


Bowe won the first 500m with a time of 37.93 seconds, beating Goetz by just 0.15 seconds, and then she captured the first 1000m in 1:13.83, beating Goetz by .07 seconds. Goetz won the 1500m with a season-best time of 1.54.14, edging Bowe by .05 seconds.


Mia Manganello, a two-time Olympian, nearly matched their three podiums. She won the 3000m with a time of 4:12.20 and finished third in the 1000m but was just off the podium in fourth in the 500m and 1500m. Rebecca Simmons finished second in the 3000m and 1000m.


Bullard edged Carlson in both Men’s 500m races, winning with times of 37.83 and 37.41 for winning margins of 0.04 and 0.33 seconds.


Carlson ruled the 1000m, winning the first race with a season-best time of 1.14.34 and nearly matching it Sunday with a winning time of 1.14.35. Bullard finished runner-up to Carlson in the first 1000m by nearly four seconds and was third behind Carlson and Kelin Dunfee in the second 1000m. Carlson added a second-place finish in the 1500m, giving him five podium finishes on the weekend to Bullard’s four.


Jonathan Kuck won the Men’s 1500m with a time of 1:49.12, finishing ahead of Carlson and Uel Archuletta, a skater in the Men’s 55 class. Archuletta also had a third-place finish in the 1000m.


Joshua Krieter won the Men’s 3000m with a personal-best time of 4:53.26, ahead of Andrew Haskell and Gary Groen.


Mark Yanagihara, Archuletta and Matthew Trimble combined to win the Masters Men’s Pursuit.


Kathy Feinberg, Nathalie Rodrigue-Hasselback and Barb Johnson won the Masters Women’s Pursuit.
