Alumni Committee#
Mark Greenwald has served as the Chair of the US Speedskating Alumni Commission since inception (2014-present). He represented the US at the 1988 & 1992 Olympic Games in Long Track Speedskating and 1986 World Championships in Short Track. His career as a sport leader includes Director of the Calgary Olympic Oval (2004-2009), Executive Director of US Speedskating (2010-2013), President of the Amateur Speedskating Union Foundation (2023-present) and he presently serves as the Managing Director of Alien In-Line, one of the largest skating schools in the world reaching over 100,000 students annually. He and his wife reside in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
Alyson Dudek is an Olympic Bronze medalist from the 2010 Vancouver Olympics. She won this medal in the 3000m Relay alongside her Team USA teammates. Originally from Hales Corner, Wisconsin, she now resides in Park City with her husband as a relator.
Now residing in California, Keith has been a part of the speed skating community for many years in different roles. Once an athlete, Keith now serves as the USS Chair for the Judicial Committee, a member of the Ethics Committee as well as sits on the ISU Office Holder and Disciplinary Commission member. All of this while remaining on the alumni committee!
Mary Brophy Magnus is an athlete representative for USS Alumni. She is a former US National Team member and has been speedskating since 1977. She won several competitions in her early career, including six National age group titles, and placed in the top ten at the 1992, 1994 and 1998 US Olympic Trials. Mary has three children, Evan, Kayla, and Emily, and returned to racing in 2018 at age 44, staying competitive on the elite level in short track and long track. Mary is a USS Level 3 coach residing in Saratoga Springs, New York. She enjoys coaching, training and she loves to skate.
Bambi Reid Pedu grew up in Lake Placid, NY and began skating at the age of five. She was a member of the Long Track National Team from 1983-1987 and a member of the National Short Track Team in 1985 and competed in the National Sports Festival in Baton Rouge, La. She was the long track Nationals champion in the Junior Girls class in 1985. She went on to higher education and earned an AS degree in Business Administration, a BS degree in Psychology/Sociology with a minor in English Writing and Education, and a MS degree in Education. She coached the young skaters of the Saratoga Winter Club for three years. She taught for twenty years in various grades at the elementary school level. She is currently the Director of the Lake Placid Public Library. She is married with one daughter.
Once a long track skater, Susan now has many roles within USS. Her main responsibility is as acting Board Member and Level 4 Refree. Additionally, Susan sits on the Audit and Sport Science Committee.
Patrick participated in long track at the World Cup and World Championship level from 1987 to 1995. As a founder of the USS Alumni Commission, he’s excited to welcome new old skaters into this community!
After retirement from speed skating, Patrick started Alien In-Line, which has grown to teach skating to more than 100,000 Western Canadian kids every year. He also spent time in the modular ice rink industry as a project manager on numerous high-profile events such as NHL Winter Classic, US and World Figure Skating Championships, Cleveland Indians Snow Days and Richmond Ice Zone Celebration Site at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games.
He currently splits time between Calgary, Toronto, Leeds, Maine and London, England.
An alumni speed skater from the midwest, Sam skated for over 10 years as a long track skater. When Sam competed, she made a handful of Junior World Championship Teams and competed at the 2018 Olympic Trials.
As a USS Staff member currently residing in Salt Lake City, Sam is able to bring a behind the scenes prospective to the sport that she once competed in. Aside from liaising the Alumni Committee, running the USS social media accounts is one of many roles that she is involved with.
