WHAT ARE YOUR GOALS FOR THE 2013-14 SEASON?

    1. Get on the podium during the World Cup season

    2. Become a member of the 2014 Olympic team and win a gold medal

HOW DID YOU GET INTO SPEEDSKATING?

I switched from inline speed skating to ice speed skating after accomplishing world championship titles and Pan American titles.  I couldn’t achieve my ultimate dream of becoming an Olympian because inline skating is not an Olympic sport.  So after a few athletes made the switch, I decided it was time to do the same in order to have a chance at ever being in the Olympic games.

WHAT IS YOUR MOST MEMORABLE SPEEDSKATING MOMENT?

After just missing out on the Olympic team and being alternate to the team I had to get on a plane and race the very next weekend at the world cups.  I was still pretty upset about just missing out on the team but reminded myself that I am a champion.  Champions pull themselves together and continue to fight.  I ended up fighting through each round coming from behind to beat out another skater at the line making it into the Final of the 1000m in Shanghai, China.  I didn’t give up on myself and ended up earning a Bronze medal in the final.

WHAT IS A CHALLENGE THAT YOU HAD TO OVERCOME?

Just missing out on the 2010 Olympic team. I hadn’t been on the ice very long but it was hard to be one spot away from making it.
