Gold in Final Competition Before Sochi 2014

In their last 1000m before the 2014 Winter Olympic Games, Heather Richardson and Shani Davis win GOLD! Team USA finished strong on the final day of World Sprint Championships. Richardson and Davis both finished on top of the podium overall. Sugar Todd and Mitch Whitmore helped to secure addition spots for the U.S. Team next year with both of them placing 14th overall.

Richardson finished her final competition before Sochi 2014 on the podium. She captured another bronze in the second 500m and gold in the 1000m. Richardson finished third overall behind Jing Yu of China and Hong Zhang of China.

Davis also finished on the overall podium in second behind Michel Mulder of the Netherland.  

 

HIGHLIGHTS:

Heather Richardson captured bronze in the 500m #2 with a time of 38.18

Sugar Todd placed 15th in the 500m #2 with a time of 39.22

Mitch Whitmore placed 9th in the 500m #2 with a time of 35.57

Shani Davis placed 14th in the 500m #2 with a time of 35.82

Heather Richardson claimed gold in the 1000m #2 with a time of 1:15.28

Sugar Todd placed 15th in the 1000m #2 with a time of 1:19.45

Shani Davis claimed gold in the 1000m #2 with a time of 1:08.96

Mitch Whitmore placed 10 in the 1000m #2 with a time of 1:10.85

Heather Richardson finished 3rd overall with a total of 151.790 points

Sugar Todd finished 14th overall with a total of 157.410 points

Shani Davis finished 2nd overall with a total of 140.600 points

Mitch Whitmore finished 14th overall with a total of 142.465 points
